I was thrilled to be invited by Jennifer at The Ponyclub Gallery in Portland to participate in their up-coming ‘Diorama Drama’ group show (click here to see the diorama I sent). Other participants include: Heiko Windisch, Lilly Piri, Julianna Swaney, Tripper Duncan, Annie Aube, Cate Anevski, Alisha Wessler, Lauren Albert, the Ponyclub members and more.
Wall-to-wall dioramas – sounds like fun! So, if you’re in Portland, Oregon tomorrow (Thurs 3rd June) at 6pm head over to the The Ponyclub Gallery for the opening.
While we’re on the subject of dioramas, albeit on quite a different scale, here are some from the North American Mammals room at the American Museum of Natural History. These ‘habitat dioramas’ are beautiful, compelling and disturbing all at once – they were certainly one of the many visual highlights of my recent visit to New York (and I’m now itching to get my hands on this fascinating looking book).
Wapiti
Alaska Brown Bear
Spotted Skunk & Cacomistle

Hi Suzanne! I didn’t catch this first time around! I mean, I didn’t find your winter wood wraith…cause I was looking at the little chappie in his scalloped fringey outfit going, this so does not look like Suzanne!
Anyway, nice to see your work getting some global exposure. Thanks for the nice comment over at Passage Paradis. I have to say, looking forward to that garden got me through many a winter in NYC.

Hi Mlle Paradis!
Thanks for the heads up – you’re absolutely right, it was a little confusing! So I’ve altered the text a bit to make the link to my diorama more apparent.

So wonderful! I’ve always loved dioramas and all the sorts of treats that are found in natural history museums.
