Some prompt vivid memories. The seagull skull: walking along a windswept stretch of sand and rocks at Cape Point, next to a blue & wild ocean and under an even bluer sky. The pinecones: exploring Tetsugaku-no-Michi (‘Path of Philosophy’) in Kyoto, beneath the blossoming cherry trees. The pair of (acacia?) seedpods: found unscathed by passing feet on a busy London pavement (!?).
